Residents of Eastern Kern County are eligible to receive a voucher for replacing their old wood stove with a new heating appliance.

About the Award:

The Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control (District) is offering rebate vouchers to replace non-EPA certified wood stoves, fireplace inserts, and open-hearth fireplaces used as a primary source of heat, with new cleaner burning devices. The new device must be one of the following: EPA certified fireplace insert or woodstove, natural gas, propane, or electric heating device. An old wood stove being replaced must be uncertified. A wood stove installed prior to 1988, or that
does not have a label permanently affixed to it describing particulate matter emission standards qualifies for this Program. This Program is only available to homeowners.

Funding Details:

  • $4,000 voucher for residents of Low-income communities as designated by this map.
  • $2,000 voucher for all other residents.
    • Low-income households outside of these communities are eligible if they provide evidence of enrollment in a low-income assistance program.
